Oggi vorrei proporvi un matrimonio alternativo.

Si, alternativo. Ma che cosa vuol dire? Ci saranno danzatori russi, falene esotiche, cibi speziati dal gusto mediorientale serviti da ballerini polacchi in abiti succinti? E invece no, è tutto molto più semplice e immediato: Vi propongo un matrimonio a due! Si avete capito bene, un matrimonio a cui partecipano solo gli sposi. Una rarità, se non un’eccezione.

Ritmi frenetici, un centinaio di invitati, bomboniere: scegli la location per ospitare tutte queste persone, fiori, camerieri, inviti. Chi ha il tempo di stare dietro a tutto e di godersi il giorno del proprio matrimonio?

Accidenti, dovrebbe essere il giorno più bello per gli sposi! E invece si pensa a come sistemare la zia Maria, che non stia vicino alla sorella della mamma della cugina della zia della moglie di Rita….ma… non è IL GIORNO DEGLI SPOSI?! Ecco.. ci siamo persi dimenticando cosa ci stiamo preparando a fare : un passo importante, con la persona che amiamo di più al mondo e che starà con noi, e solo con noi, per il resto della nostra vita. Non dobbiamo sposare la famiglia, gli amici..loro non saranno con noi nella quotidianità della nostra futura vita a due.

Un matrimonio a due è sicuramente una scelta in controtendenza, ma sicuramente una scelta con la ‘s’ maiuscola: è il modo più sentito per dire all’altra persona “io e te per sempre”. Io, te e il nostro amore. E’ un modo per pensare a se stessi, per godersi in tutto e per tutto la propria anima gemella, nel giorno più bello della nostra vita.

Il matrimonio a due sottolinea con tutta la sua forza l’importanza della coppia, il legame eterno che si andrà a celebrare. Ti permette di godere dell’altro nella sua totalità, di ascoltare l’altro e di accoglierlo come in un nessun altro momento.

Quindi fermiamoci ancora un attimo e respiriamo. Si può arrivare al giorno del matrimonio senza troppe ansie, senza troppo stress… Senza invitati? Si! Gli invitati essenziali ci sono già : due innamorati che si scelgono e scelgono di iniziare la loro vita come una coppia, dal primo giorno della loro unione.

E questo punto, ora che abbiamo chiarito qual’è il fulcro essenziale della cerimonia possiamo lasciarci andare…perchè non farla al confine del mondo..in un luogo suggestivo, esclusivo, anticipando così il viaggio di nozze? E perchè non celebrare addirittura con un giro del mondo e dirselo in ogni continente..non è necessaria la presenza di tutti, i testimoni saranno il cielo le stelle…da ogni latitudine!

Non ci siamo fatte mancare nulla, volevamo visitare la fiera, volevamo vedere le ultime tendenze, volevamo trovare qualcosa di nuovo da portare in Italia… volevamo!… ed abbiamo trovato!

Nello scorrere i gioiosi stand (dico gioiosi perchè il clima che si respirava era di gran festa!) abbiamo trovato delle chicche mica da ridere!

Lo stand di GILLIAN MILLION offre un assortimento infinito di cerchietti con strass e perline, fasce, fascette, pinzette per capelli e tanti accessori molto lontani dalla nostra idea infantile, anzi direi di gran classe e ad un prezzo importante… diciamo così! Ma sono DIVINI!

La sezione che mi ha fatto impazzire di piu’ è quella VINTAGE! Ho ancora i brividi a pensare a quante cose belle ho visto….

un angolino di dolcetti e decorazioni vintage, con due espositrici direi… molto vintage!

stand di decorazioni, piene di “roba vecchia” o nuova a tema, ma il risultato finale è veramente BELLO! (Avrete capito che adoro questo stile!)

Abiti stile anni ’20, con dei pizzi deliziosi ed una femminilità sfrenata…

Splendide decorazioni floreali…

e che dire del mitico HEN PARTY BUS… divertente pensare che lì sopra si svolgono meravigliose festicciole!

Ho trovato anche dei bravi cake designer ed una torta in particolare mi ha colpito… tutta di piume – alla faccia delle superstiziose – e proprio con questa vi lascio e vi do appuntamento al prossimo anno!

When my friend asked me if I wanted to visit an ancient hamlet I hadn’t realised she was talking about a hotel.  A hamlet turned into a hotel but without too much fuss and frill. Just as it should be. Some buildings can be “over restored” leaving nothing behind. However, this hotel still has the feel of an eighteenth century building. No pomp and paraphernalia just elegant rooms and art. Are you intrigued?

Peluzzi lived within the hamlet until his death in 1985, obviously before it became a hotel. He is buried here and his memory still lives on within the hotel. One of the most beautiful suites in the hotel was the actual studio from where Peluzzi lived and worked.

If I ever get married I think the first job on that long list of “things to do” will be:

1. Pick wedding music.

Of course there’s not just the ceremony music but also the reception music, the night time buffet music and the disco music….. I want a hand in all of it!

It’s so easy now thanks to the little memory stick. Ah the memory stick, music to my ears. I remember about 14 years ago attending a fortieth birthday party where the birthday boy had prepared all of his favourite music on his apple, hooked it up to some fab speakers and Bob was his aunt! The playlist was excellent, none of that gooey music and of course the corny DJ was nowhere to be seen. E’ un po’ di tempo che ho voglia di raccontarvi un po’ di cose in merito alla scelta della location. Forse una delle difficoltà piu’ grandi nelle scelte degli sposi.
Sembra facile il percorso, ma tutto si complica con i prezzi, a volte veramente esorbitanti!
In linea generale si potrebbe dire che – se parliamo di costi – se si vuole risparmiare si dovrebbe optare per il ristorante, che nel prezzo a persona c’è anche l’affitto della location (almeno qui da noi).
La moda adesso è soprattutto quella della location a tema – villa, castello, agriturismo, villa d’epoca o quant’altro – con la richiesta di un catering per lo svolgimento del buffet.
In questo caso, quasi sempre piu’ oneroso del ristorante, dovrete fare attenzione agli spazi che si posso utilizzare.
Parlo a tutte coloro che si vogliono organizzare il matrimonio fai da te, ma anche alle wedding planner alle prime armi.
Gli spazi sono importantissimi. Domandate alla location se ci sono gli spazi utili per celebrare il banchetto di nozze sia all’aperto che all’interno. Perchè? Perchè se fa bello gli sposi vorranno stare all’aperto, ma se fa brutto si deve optare per la cosiddetta OPZIONE B!

Se la location non offre una copertura adeguata, si puo’ optare per una copertura esterna.
La tensostruttura in cristal, cioè trasparente è la piu’ bella esteticamente, altrimenti consiglio la tendostruttura normale, controsoffittata internamente con tessuto e con decorazioni scenografiche adeguate.

Tutto cio’ ha un costo che – a seconda delle persone che deve ospitare – puo’ anche incidere molto. Ecco perchè quando andrete a scegliere una location non soffermatevi sul primo prezzo, ma domandate l’utilizzo degli spazi e soprattutto le zone coperte.

Oppure… perchè non pensare di allestire la propria casa, un prato, un porticato per allestire un matrimonio vintage o shabby chic? Ma questo ve lo racconto la prossima volta!

I’m a newbie in Piedmont but I’ve spent many years in the region of Liguria. During my time in Liguria I travelled north into Piedmont to visit Turin, Alessandria, Alba and even Spigno Monferrato but never Acqui Terme. Then a friend of mine recently visited Acqui and told me it was a surprise to him too when he discovered how lovely the town of Acqui Terme is. So this summer a visit is planned to enjoy the thermal waters and all Acqui has to offer.

Whilst reading up on Acqui I came across a legend, how wonderful. The Legend of Aleramo.

Little is known about the life of Aleramo. He was the son of Count William. He was a courageous soldier for Emperor Ottone.

The first part of the legend tells us that Aleramo was born at Acqui Terme during a pilgrimage to Rome.

The second part of the legend wants us to believe that in 934 AD Aleramo rode non stop crossing ravines and hills, and riding through difficult thick forests and treachorous marshland, giving the name Monferrato to this region.

As a reward from Emperor Ottone for being such a valiant soldier during the siege of the city of Brescia, Aleramo would be given as much land as he could cross by horse in three days in this mountainous terrain of Piedmont.

Aleramo set out and rode day and night for three days, covering all the land that ran from the river Po, to the Tanaro, the Orba, almost as far as the sea in Liguria. Legend recounts that Aleramo, wanting to shoe his horse before beginning his great ride and not finding the right tools, used a brick (mattone) known in Piedmontese as a “mun”, and thus managed to have his horse shoed (ferrato, “frrha” in dialect). This led to the local name “Munfrrha”: Monferrato. He covered 400 km, and literally exhausted one horse to death.  Legend or history?

His tomb is preserved in the Rosary Chapel of what is today the Parish Church of Grazzano Badoglio on one of Monferrato’s many striking hills, almost on the border between the areas of Casale and Asti.

In the name of Aleramo and the memory of his epic ride, which is considered to be more than a purely geographical act of union and identity, the people of Monferrato relive those events with historical commemoration.

Doing another little bit of research into the area I discovered that there are what seems like hundreds of  medieval castles, and many of them are just perfect for a wedding! Well, we can all dream!

Americans, English, Germans, more and more couples are deciding to get married in Italy. Everyone will remember that Kate and Tom celebrated their big day at Castello di Bracciano, Rome.

It certainly is becoming more popular, 16th century villas, castles that have written history, cities of art such as Venice, Florence and the eternal city of Rome, not to mention the climate, almost always warm and dry. Naturally for a couple to organise a long distance wedding all by themselves isn’t going to be easy. It really will put their relationship to the test! You’ll have all seen the film, but don’t think that she’s going to pinch your husband to be, two simple words to simplify your life tremendously: Wedding Planner, more important than the priest!

Well it’s not quite as bad as that but there’s always a huge queue outside the doors when they have their famous “Blowout Sample Sale”! By the way the next one is May 1st. Dresses, or gowns as the americans say, start from $799, a snip of a price.

So why is Kleinfeld so special? The experience maybe, they started out 71 years ago in Brooklyn but then moved into the city and found glamour. They house an incredible range of designers with a fabulous team of over 200 professionals  who can provide up to 30 hours of personal assistance. If you really can’t manage the trip to New York then there is one small consolation, you can buy on line, but it’s not quite the same thing.
